Do Nothing. Do Good. is an app created by &Barr that tracks the time you spend off of your phone and converts it into volunteer hours.
The app is as simple as it’s name implies. Simply press one button to start the timer and the timer will keep track of the time you spend not touching or moving your phone. The total time you spend away from the phone gets translated into volunteer hours in which members of the agency will contribute to various causes in the future.
Here it is in their own words:
Time is a scarce resource. And these days we all spend way too much of it with our noses buried in a phone. Even when we’re with family, friends, driving our cars – that darn phone is in our hands and in our faces. So we’ve created an app that encourages you to take occasional breaks from your phone on a daily basis. And as a reward for the time you spend doing nothing on your phone, we’ll go out in the world and do good on your behalf. The more breaks you take, the more good we do. You &Barr, doing good for the community. And ourselves.
And if you’re not quite sure what to do with all that new found free time you will soon have they even give you a list of things you can do from twiddling your thumbs and shaking what your mama gave you to hanging out with friends and going on a bike ride.
This is definitely my kind of app and my kind of to do list as well. In fact I’m twiddling my thumbs right now and you sure as heck best believe I’ll be following that with shaking what my mama gave me.
