In an art installation by Agelio Batle, ‘Ash Dancer’ is essentially a skeleton pencil, disintegrating as it leaves its mark on earth.
The life-sized graphite is placed on a “specially constructed, high frequency vibrating table” that is laid with Vellum paper, leaving smudges on the surface as it rattles across the table.
The result is a series of abstract graphite drawings, but the real art lies in the process, which “serves as a metaphor for the ephemeral nature of life”. (written by Chloe Pek)
